About Us
Madi’s Funny Farm began taking shape in 2022 when Madi and Eric purchased their lovely 10-acre farm on the western slope of the Rocky Mountains. Madi’s dream was always to create a refuge for unwanted and unloved farm animals. With hard work, long days, and ample amounts of TLC, their dream was realized.
Upon arriving at the farm, you’ll be greeted first by the resident tree goats. They will call out a greeting, a resounding baaaa!, then meet you at the gate with tails wagging. Chickens free range, scratching and foraging happily across the farm. The donkeys neighbor the goats and will also demand your attention with their unique brays and squeaks, long ears alert and ready for carrots. Horses lounge comfortably in the pastures, stretched out lazily taking naps in the sun. They may be eating when you arrive, but with all the ruckus the goats and donkeys make, soon they will be at the fence interested in the visitors and activity.
As with all farms, there is a never-ending list of projects. As with all farm animals, there is a never-ending list of chores. You’ll find Madi, Eric, and their little ones tending to the farm and animals, playing with monster trucks on homemade ramps or racing through the yard playing chase at any given time.
What we do
Madi is always holding space for an animal that needs it most. There are few, albeit almost zero, laws in place to protect farm animals from cruelty at the hands of humans. The animals might not have a voice, but Madi has a loud one. For years now, Madi fundraises privately to help offset the astronomical costs of rescuing and rehabbing fragile animals… many of which seem beyond help. Farm animals are often subjected to severe neglect- physical, emotional, and mental. So, Madi and Eric find them (or perhaps the animals find Madi and Eric), bring them home, and shower them with much needed love and care. Madi believes that full tummies, kind words, and gentle touches can go a long way to helping animals reclaim their voices and their wellness. Some animals will remain permanently, others will find forever families under Madi’s adoption policies.
Madi uses her social media platforms to create awareness and education for the animals. She created a YouTube channel to further help the farm where supporters can purchase a membership to help feed, vet, and provide other necessary care for the rescued animals. Visit Madi on YouTube, and join the farm family!
Meet the Family
Madi, momma of the farm.
Long time animal lover and advocate, Madi is living her little girl dream of owning and operating her very own animal safe place. With 2 little boys and a baby girl to pursue, her arms and days are full of joy, passion and activity. Madi grew up in Texas and found her way to Colorado shortly after marrying Eric. The mountains won the young couple over and from there their family and dreams have grown in abundance!
Eric, professional farm hand.
Master dad and fence builder, Eric is the best handy man to have around and Madi’s better half. Eric grew up in the city, never anticipating that he would one day own and operate a private farm/rescue. Nevertheless, his favorite place is here, watching his little ones grow up feral in the fields with the greatest farm animals around.
